Dive planning for China Wall

Site Briefing

China Wall Dive Planning
By  With (Source info as of 03/11/07)

This site is a craggy rocky series of walls off the south side of Blakely Rock. The main rock is just west of the anchor line. Expect to see rockfish, lingcod, and several species of sculpin. You can end your dive in the shallow rock ledges and reefs surrounding Blakely Rock where there are often lots of little critters such as sculpin, gunnels, etc.

Conditions: This site is an advanced dive due to the depths and potential current. This site is the least current-intensive in the area, and can often serve as a second dive during a mild part of the flood. If you are not comfortable with currents, dive this close to slack or on a small exchange.

⚠️ Safety & accuracy

Before diving at China Wall, always check the site-specific wind/wave forecast, tide/currents, and recent reports (latest: Nov 10, 2024)! Reminder: Winds (even offshore winds) can impact slack time.

Briefings may be out of date or have inaccuracies. Dive within your training and experience. The first time diving a site, join someone familiar with the site and/or start on a mild day.

See our currents, tides, wind, and waves guide for help reading charts and planning current-sensitive dives.

The nearest NOAA or XTide current and tide stations within 25 miles are selected by default when available. NOAA stations show charts here; XTide stations link to Dairiki. Click a pin on the map below to choose another station for current, tide, camera, or buoy data (you may need to zoom in or out).

See an issue? Would you suggest a different default station or depth? Suggest briefing updates.
