North Cod Reef is a dive site in Victoria Area. Current-swept pinnacle just south of Gooch Island in the Sidney BC area (Salish Sea / Southern Gulf Islands).

Ranked #2 dive site off Southern Vancouver Island (Greg Dombowski's guide) after Race Rocks . Broad flat top around 30 ft; dropoff to 45-50 ft on the west edge; wall drops beyond 115 ft with white plumose anemones. Inside a Rockfish Conservation Area -- hook-and-line fishing and spearfishing prohibited.

Access: Boat access from Sidney BC.

Marine life: Plumose anemones (dense white coverage on the wall), red urchins, dense invertebrate populations.

Conditions: Current-sensitive -- dive on slack. Wind-exposed pinnacle -- pick a calm day.

Hazards: No surface marker on the shallow reef -- boat approach requires GPS + care.

⚠️ Safety & accuracy

Before diving at North Cod Reef, always check the site-specific wind/wave forecast, tide/currents, and recent reports ! Reminder: Winds (even offshore winds) can impact slack time.

Briefings may be out of date or have inaccuracies. Dive within your training and experience. The first time diving a site, join someone familiar with the site and/or start on a mild day.

See our currents, tides, wind, and waves guide for help reading charts and planning current-sensitive dives.

The nearest NOAA or XTide current and tide stations within 25 miles are selected by default when available. NOAA stations show charts here; XTide stations link to Dairiki.
