Dive planning for Camp Parsons
Site Briefing
Camp Parsons is a Hood Canal shore dive at the Boy Scout camp waterfront near Brinnon. The site has rocky reef and pilings in Hood Canal fjord waters.
Access: Shore entry -- respect camp property and seasonal access.
Marine life: Commonly seen: sea star and giant pacific octopus. Regularly reported: perch, crab, plumose anemone, anemone, and nudibranch.
Conditions: The site faces south, so south winds tend to build chop at the entry. Check the site's wind forecast link before you leave home.
⚠️ Safety & accuracy
Before diving at Camp Parsons, always check the site-specific wind/wave forecast, tide/currents, and recent reports (latest: Aug 16, 2023)! Reminder: Winds (even offshore winds) can impact slack time.
Briefings may be out of date or have inaccuracies. Dive within your training and experience. The first time diving a site, join someone familiar with the site and/or start on a mild day.
See our currents, tides, wind, and waves guide for help reading charts and planning current-sensitive dives.
