Very nice 85 minute dive with Donald! I've never seen a tide that easy at DIW - it was like Redondo! I saw four juvenile red irish lords in the shallow. I guess that's where they live. In the kelp I saw something that looked like a large red snailfish. Almost like a brotula but it disappeared quickly and I couldnt get a photo. ARe there snailfish like that? It was in about 20 ft of water. We saw a couple of juvenile giant pacific octopus in the open. They were swimming like GPOs! Not red octos. One had a hole in its head. A couple of wolf eels. DIW is a better night dive than day dive apparently.

Easily 20+ feet, possibly 30+, hard to tell as it was a night dive. I love fall-time night diving opportunities at diw! Nice wolfies, fewer GPOs but saw some reds in the open. I saw an interesting fish. It looked like a whitespotted greenling but red! Mating garb? Kelpie on eggs. Lots of pmh's. No gunnel like yesteryears.

The male whitespotted greenlings at Skyline on Sun. were pretty reddish. And males are supposed to darken for mating season.
