Dive planning for Mike's Beach Resort
Site Briefing
Mike's Beach Resort is a Hood Canal shore dive at a Lilliwaup waterfront lodge. Mike's Reef sits on a gradual sandy slope in front of the property -- sunk appliances, small boat wrecks, and a tire reef give divers scattered targets to hunt. Most structure sits in 30-50 ft, with items continuing deeper for teams who want more bottom time. A site map is available at the resort office.
The resort is also a common base for the long surface swim or scooter run to the Knuckle at nearby Flagpole Point -- see that briefing for navigation and the deep reef.
Access: Shore entry from Mike's Beach Resort. Non-guests may need a day-use fee; check with the resort before you arrive.
Marine life: Commonly seen: giant pacific octopuses, shrimp, nudibranchs, and lingcod.
Hazards: Confirm current resort access and fees before planning a shore day or a Flagpole swim.
⚠️ Safety & accuracy
Before diving at Mike's Beach Resort, always check the site-specific wind/wave forecast, tide/currents, and recent pnwdiving reports (latest: Mar 30, 2023)! Reminder: Winds (even offshore winds) can impact slack time.
Briefings may be out of date or have inaccuracies. Dive within your training and experience. The first time diving a site, join someone familiar with the site and/or start on a mild day.
See our currents, tides, wind, and waves guide for help reading charts and planning current-sensitive dives.
About tide & current data sources.
The nearest NOAA or XTide current and tide stations within 25 miles are selected by default when available. Click a pin on the map below to choose another station for current, tide, camera, or buoy data (you may need to zoom in or out).
See an issue? Would you suggest a different default station or depth? Suggest briefing updates.
