Visibility
A silty 10-15 feet, <5 feet in the shallows

Beautiful creatures with not so beautiful visibility in Puget Sound Underwater yesterday. From the surface down to more than 40 feet the viz was only about 5 feet. Thick algae bloom made it quite difficult to see much of anything. At depths of 50 to 90 feet it opened up to around 15 feet. Still not great but typical for this time of year. At depth the Brittle Stars are everywhere and surrounded by tiny amphipods. A few sculpins but still not seeing as many as in previous years. The water temp is warming every year. Up to 59ΒΊ - way to warm for our delicate wildlife. Slack tide and mild winds on a very sunny day.

Visibility
A snowy 5-10 feet, <5 feet in the shallows (outgoing tide)

Skills dive. Nasty vis while across the channel it's great. I'd say at 50 to 60 the vis was in the 6 to 8 ft range. We did a shared air ascent on the line and every 10 ft we lost about a foot of vis. So like min gas strategy backwards for a vis calculation but no plus 1. There were quite a few sculpins out and one grunt on the bug.
