Reef Check survey trip. The bull kelp forest is huge on the surface, couldn't get within a few hundred yards of shore if the boat wanted to!

Sandy & bouldery below. Tons of bull kelp but less understory coverage than expected.

Saw one puffin floating around, and the boat got swarmed with kelp flies lol. Thankfully they weren't biting!

No puffins were seen. You're required to stay 600ft from shore, so unless you're staring through binoculars, you can't see much on shore.
