Westport Jetty

Visibility: A muddy <5 feet (high tide)

Jesse and I went to find potential dives in westport. The conditions seemed to rough for the main jetty. We considered going down the rocks in town but it was pretty slippery. Settled on the marina which was shallower than expected and muddy. Jessie saw a few sea lemons. If anyone else has done any experimental dives on the west coast let me know. So far ocean shores and west Port were both not great. But it was fun!

The Grays Harbor bar and jetty area is widely recognized as hazardous, with strong currents, breaking surf, and shallow, turbulent water frequently cited in Coast Guard navigation warnings, and conditions around both the North and South Jetties often include shallow water with breakers and dangerous seas in most weather states; diver reports also describe consistently poor visibility due to wind- and wave-stirred sand and silt, and there is no official dive infrastructure such as marked entry or exit points, on-site dive services, or documented underwater features like reefs or wrecks, while tidal exchange at the harbor entrance creates very strong currents, making slack tide essential even for experienced divers accustomed to challenging jetty dives elsewhere.
