Driftwood Pond 2 Dive Planning

This is a fun dive near Keystone. It's a pond filled with hundreds of jellyfish of several species.

Apparently, the pond is a remnant of a quarry where the materials for the Smith Tower came from!

The pond can get to a nice warm temp in the summer, but extra cold in the winter. It's 20' deep max, and a lot less salty than the sound. Much of the good stuff is near the surface.

Pond 1 is usually the better of the two nearby ponds.

The trickiest part can be the exit. Enter/exit at the pushpin shown on the map. It can be quite a steep entry, check it out before you go out with all your gear on. Sometimes we'll even grab a piece of driftwood to use as a hiking stick to make it easier to get out of this site. Don't be ashamed to crawl out if need be!

Watch your buoyancy, as this dive can easily silt up!
