Dive report for 7/12/26

- Visibility
- 15-20 feet, 15 feet in the shallows (incoming tide)
An attempted Reef Check survey was aborted due to too much current for a good survey, so the team did a small drift dive along the kelp bed instead!
Dive report for 6/30/24
- Visibility
- A hazy 15-20 feet, 10-15 feet in the shallows
49 degrees, Hazy 20ft at Partridge Point, finishing up Reef Check surveys. Swell was forecast to pick up to 3-4 feet @ 12 seconds approximately midday but was lower than expected midmorning (although the longer period was detectable at depth), some current at the deep edge of the kelp bed, more notable along the south side. This was my first time at this site and it was really neat, there is a TON of understory kelp along with the (visible) canopy-forming bull kelp - A really good example of the bouldery substrate and kelp forest community structure that is typical in the eastern Strait. If you're not used to diving in dense kelp, do be aware of the tangle risks and techniques to avoid it. The walk down from parking is reasonable (and there's a rinse hose!), the berm in the surf zone is soft and steps down pretty quickly, but the entry is mostly free of large boulders. Previous survey days on bigger swell days (4-5ft) have experienced blown-out visibility, so I would look for this site on a less than 3ft swell day given the straight-on nature of the swell.
