Dive report for 7/18/25

Visibility
A silty 15-20 feet (incoming tide)

lovely late afternoon dive on slack before flood. beautiful aqua water and golden kelp with generous schools of white perch. i could have stayed in the shallows admiring this sight for a long time but off to the end of the jetty i went. tried to find warbonnets in the acorn barnacles on the upper reaches of the jetty but the white anemones have overgrown the structure. good visibility and very little current. slack predicted at 5:12 pm. i got in around 3:45 pm and had a current free dive.

We saw Cracktopus πŸ™, 3 baby grunts 🍼🐟🍼🐟🍼🐟, tons of tiny and giant scalyhead sculpins, massive lingcod, a lovely school of yellowtail rockfish and perch, a few black rockfish, baby and teenage Puget Sound rockfish 🐟🐟🐟

and what felt like five million nudibranchs in every color and shape! 🀩

Fred the 9th wasn't home today, but we'll find him another time! πŸ˜„

Sadly, it looks like the beginning of another barnacle infestation on some of the shallower rocks πŸ˜₯

Also saw some egg yolk jellies, and baby basket bryozoans!
